September 30 and October 1 is our walk and you are welcome to join us for 5k, the full 70km or however much you choose to do!

Join us in this incredible journey as we walk to raise funds for Shelter Them, a remarkable nonprofit organization devoted to providing for those in need in Rwanda. Embark on a long and memorable 70 km trek with sisters Jocelyne and Josephine who will go from Hamilton to Toronto during two long days.

Our ultimate mission is to raise $10,000 to help support our growing educational needs. Rwanda is a country with a high number of school-aged children who do not have access to proper education. And Shelter Them is aiming to change this with the children in our area.

September 30 and October 1 is our walk and you are welcome to join us for any distance you feel good with, just let us know by contacting us here

Donate here and lets give these children a good education to be Rwandas future of hope!

Below is a sample of a simple request you can send to your friends and loved ones...

An Award of Excellence for Our ECDC in Gateko!

We are pleased and proud to announce that The Early Childhood Development Centre in Gateko, which was established and is funded by Shelter Them, has received a certificate of excellence by the Governor of the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Our ECDC is among the top four centres out of 563 in Bugesera District!

The centres were evaluated based on several criteria:

  •  Delivery of services
  •  Infrastructure and hygiene facilities
  •  Conducive place for children to play
  •  Creativity and innovation in programming
  • Parent and community engagement in the ECDC

This award is thanks primarily to the programming and leadership provided by Julius Twahirwa, our Education Manager, and to the dedication of the caregivers who deliver that programming. But they could not do their excellent work without the generosity of our many Shelter Them supporters, especially the members of the ECDC Club. Would you like to become a member of the Club? Please click on Donate to learn how you can help to provide these young children, 3 to 6 years of age, with a fair start to their future!

The Sky is the Limit – Meet Our

Second University Graduate!

Meet Khesia Niyonsenga, who has just graduated from the University of Kigali, where she majored in Business Management and Accounting. Khesia was born in the small village of Nyamugali, one of eight children. She says she had no hope for her future because her parents could not afford her school fees and materials. She says, “In 2016, the Shelter Them sponsorship program changed my life… I thank Shelter Them for giving me hope for the future and to achieve my dreams. I will always keep Shelter Them sponsors in my prayers.” Shelter Them sponsorship works! Click on Child Sponsorship on the Main Menu above to learn how you can transform a life!

Shelter Them’s Ontario Gala was a Resounding Success

17 More Rwandan Children Now Have Sponsors!

Our Black and White Ball, held in Brampton in early June, was our best gala ever. After having to have virtual galas recently due to COVID, people were ready to party and to reconnect with friends and supporters of Shelter Them. And they were generous! David Jenkins, our Sponsorship Coordinator, and his wife Sherry joined us from Newfoundland and delivered an inspiring presentation about sponsorship and how it can transform the lives of children in Rwanda. And our guests responded. We now have 17 new sponsors and 17 children and families who have been given hope for a future that is not dictated by poverty. Do you want to give that gift?
